The Library of Accessible Formats of Montenegro “Vojislav Minić” [Voyislav Mineech], at the proposal of the Historical Institute of the University of Montenegro, won the prestigious award “Dr. Niko Simov Martinović” [Niko Simov Martinovich, PhD], which is awarded by the Association of Librarians of Montenegro for exceptional work results. This award represents the highest recognition of an organization in the field of library activities in Montenegro.
It is a special honour for our Library that the recognition came in the year marking its important jubilee, 20 years of work, as a confirmation of the significant contribution of the Library of Accessible Formats to the development of librarianship in Montenegro, improving access to information and cultural content for all social groups.
The presenting of the award “Dr. Niko Simov Martinović” [Niko Simov Martinovich, PhD], took place in the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” [Dyoordye Tsernoyevich] in Cetinje, on June 3rd, 2026, as part of the regular Assembly of the Association of Librarians of Montenegro, which brought together librarians from all over the country, representatives of cultural and media institutions.
For the period 2021 – 2023, the prize was awarded to Slavica Glendža [Slavitsa Glendzha] and the Glenda Library of Accessible Formats of Montenegro “Vojislav Minić” [Voyislav Mineech]
from Podgorica, while the laureate for the period 2023 – 2025 is Vera Đukanović [Verra Djookanovich]. The president of the Awards Commission, Snežana Vojvoda [Snezhana Voyvoda], presented the reasons for the awards, emphasizing the contribution of the winners to the development of library activities and the improvement of access to knowledge and information. On behalf of the winners, Slavica Glendža [Slavitsa Glendzha] addressed the audience, thanking the Association for the recognition and emphasizing the importance of the continuous development of the library profession in Montenegro.
On the occasion of the presentation of the awards, an exhibition of selected publications of the laureates for the period 2021 – 2023 and for the period 2023 – 2025 was organized, prepared by Milenija Vračar [Mileniya Vrachar], librarian of the National Library in Cetinje [Cetinnyeh].
The delegates of the Assembly elected the new management of the Association of Librarians of Montenegro for the mandate period 2026 – 2028. Dragana Marković [Drugganna Markovich] was elected president of the Association, while Nataša Špadijer [Natasha Shpadiyer] will perform the function of secretary.
Dragana Marković [Drugganna Markovich], Nataša Špadijer [Natasha Shpadiyer], Vjenceslava Ševaljević [Vyentseslava Shevalyevich], Ognjen Savić [Oggnyen Savich], Edin Smailović [Edeen Smailovich], Vesna Kovač [Vesna Kovach], Marica Lučić [Maritsa Loochich], Ardita Rama [Ardeeta Rahma] and Jasmina Bajo [Yasmina Bayo] were elected to the new convocation of the Board of Directors.
Bojana Joksimović [Boyanna Yoksimovich], Sofija Jelovac [Sofiya Yelovats] and Đurđa Martinović [Dyoordya Martinovich] were elected members of the Supervisory Board, while the Court of Honor in the next term consists of Ljiljana Ćuković [Lilyana Chookovich], Alija Redžematović [Aliya Redzhematovich] and Ivana Klać [Ivana Klach].
The newly elected president Dragana Marković [Drugganna Markovich] thanked for the trust shown and emphasized that the priorities of future work will be to improve the professional status of librarians, strengthen inter-library cooperation and strengthen the positioning of libraries as important centres of knowledge, culture and lifelong learning.
