At the mention of her name, one first thinks she was just a daughter of a famous father. More famous as a painter but takes, rightly so, her humble placeeven in our history of literature.
She was her father’s favourite and not only her father’s but that of all his friends, and it is well-known that, in Vuk’s home in Vienna, gathered the most scholarly and the most influential men of that periodsuch as Jernej Kopitar [YernayKoppitar], Branko Radičević [BrankorRuddeetchevich], Đura Daničić [DjuraDanichich]. The father would deprive himself to provide appropriate education for his favourite child. He paid for private lessons of language, music and painting. Along with her mother’s German language and her father’s Serbian, she learned French, Italian and English and also used Russian.
Of all the arts, she mostly engaged in painting. After Katarina Ivanović [Katarina Yvanovich], Mina Karadžić [MeenaKaradjich]is the second female painter in the Serbian history of art. Her painting opus is comprised of about twenty works in oil, several drawings and water colours.
