The screening of the film “Jesen stiže, dunjo moja” [yesen stizheh, doonyo moya] (autmn is coming, my quince), in an adapted version for our users, will be held in the hall of The Montenegro Library for Persons with Visual Impairments on Thursday, February 27th, starting at 18 o’clock.

The interactive live adaptation of the film will be done by our associate [Igor Tommeech].

 

 

About the film:

“Jesen stiže, dunjo moja” [yesen stizheh, doonyo moya] (autmn is coming, my quince) is a Serbian film directed by Ljubiša Samardžić [Lubisha Samarjitch], released in 2004.

Somewhere in Banat, in 1914.
The carefree childhood of Sava (portrayed by Trifunović [Trrifoonovich]), Marija [Marria] (portrayed by Karan), and Petrašin [Petrashin] (portrayed by Đorđević [Georjehvich]) is abruptly interrupted by the outbreak of World War I. Sava and Petrašin, against their will, are conscripted into the Austro-Hungarian army. Four years later, the war ends. Sava returns home, where he is welcomed by Marija and his best friend Petrašin, who had returned earlier after losing his arm on the battlefield. The deep love between Sava and Marija finally blossoms. However, their happiness is hindered by Sava’s father (portrayed by Brajović [Bryovich]), who, already struggling to provide for his three daughters, refuses to take on “another hungry mouth”. After a violent confrontation with his father, Sava leaves the village and crosses the Tisa River to the town. Marija is left heartbroken and powerless.

In town, Sava finds work at the mill owned by the wealthy Granfild [Granfield] (portrayed by Ejdus [Aidooss]). Granfild’s daughter, Anica [Anitsa] (portrayed by Kovačević [Korvartchevich]), takes an interest in Sava. Seeing his daughter’s affection, the caring father offers Sava the chance to marry Anica. By marrying her, Sava would not only become part of a respectable and long-established Alsatian family, but also inherit a vast family fortune.

 

Torn by doubt, Sava decides to return to his village, longing to see Marija once more. However, he arrives only to learn that she has died giving birth to his child, who is now being raised in Petrašin’s home. Petrašin, Sava’s best friend and godfather to his child, had never come to terms with his unrequited love for Marija. Marked by the horrors of war and their personal misfortunes, both Sava and Petrašin find themselves lost in their own lives, bound together by little Dunja [Doonya] (Quince), the child they both see as their own.Bottom of Form
