As part of its regular program, the Montenegro Library for Persons with Visual Impairments (BZSCG) organized a lecture on the topic “Njegoš and Montenegro” in its festive hall. The lecturers were Filip Vučetić [Vutchetitch], MA, senior researcher from the Historical Institute of the University of Montenegro, as well as Matija Stojanović [Mahteeyah Stoyanovich], MA from the Faculty of Law, University of Montenegro.
MA Filip Vučetić introduced the audience to the political and cultural conditions in the territory of Montenegro during the time of Petar II Petrović Njegoš [Petahr Droogi Petrovich Neggosh], evaluating the issues that the society of this time period faced. Vučetić also pointed to the celebrations of the jubilee of Petar II Petrović Njegoš in 1913 and 1947, as well as contemporary jubilees in Montenegro that are related to Bishop Rade. In particular, he spoke about how the media treat and report on celebrations and jubilees.
MA Matija Stojanović spoke about the legal formation of Montenegrin society during the time of Petar I [Petahr Pervi] and Petar II Petrović Njegoš, particularly emphasizing that Bishop Rade can be considered the founder of the state of Montenegro. He explained the stages that preceded the modernization of the Montenegrin state and society, and pointed out the difficulties and disturbances that slowed down this process, referring to the relevant literature.
The audience had the opportunity to participate in a dialogue with the lecturers.
