19.05.2025 The Polimlje Museum and Our Library Jointly Staged the Exhibition “Culture for Everyone!”

The Montenegro Library for the Persons with Visual Impairments had the honour of participating as a guest institution at this year’s International Night of Museums event, which was marked by the opening of an inclusive exhibition called “Culture for Everyone!” at the Polimlje [Polimlyair] Museum in Berane.

With words of welcome, the director of the Polimlje Museum, Mrs. Violeta Folić [Violetta Folich], first greeted the visitors, stressing the importance of opening the museum to all social groups, especially persons with disabilities. Director Božidar Denda [Bozhidar Denda] spoke on behalf of the Montenegro Library for Persons with Visual Impairments, and pointed out how important it is to present the cultural heritage of Montenegro through modern, accessible and inclusive formats.

Exhibition “Culture for everyone!” was created as part of the regional project “”Museum for All – A Way towards More Accessible Museums in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, and offers 3D models, tactile replicas, animations, audio guides and other interactive content that enable access to culture without barriers to visitors. A special contribution to this exhibition was made by young creatives, who – inspired by museum collections – designed exhibits intended for a wide range of visitors, including persons with visual impairments.

The project was implemented with the support of UNESCO through the joint regional initiative “Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans” (CC4WBs), financed by the European Union. The exhibition in the Polimlje Museum was co-financed by the Ministry of European Affairs of Montenegro through the @me4eu programme, and its goal is to show how inclusive design and technology can reshape the future of museums in modern society.

With this event, the Montenegro Library for Persons with Visual Impairments once again confirms its commitment to cooperation with cultural institutions and the development of accessible formats through which culture becomes accessible to everyone – equally and without restriction.
