The Montenegro Library for Persons with Visual Impairments, in collaboration with the Banja Luka Library for the Blind and Partially Sighted Persons, on the occasion of the 23rd April, the World Book and Copyright Day, organises a dialogue forum “Readers and reading in the times of crisis” as a special cultural programme with the aim of problematizing certain aspects of the reading culture in the era of digitisation and artificial intelligence in order to point to the values of reading, as well as its perspectives given the dizzying technical and technological progress and the acceleration, which cause lack of time for book.
A writer from Podgorica Miljan Nikolić [Milyan Nikolich] will take part in the programme. He will, both as a reader and an author, talk about current reading trends and the relation author – text – reader. The topic of his presentation “The Secret Life of the Book” aims to shed a light on reading as a way of inner journey towards oneself in the era of digital communication.
MA Mirela Šarić [Me-rella Sharich], an adviser librarian and MA in librarianship in Banja Luka will also talk at the gathering. Šarić is also the director of the Library for the blind and visually impaired persons of the Republic of Srpska [Serpska], and the title of her presentation is “Reading culture trends and the contemporary time”.
In the third and final part of the programme, our famous anchor and the Library associate Vesna Jaćimović [Vesna Yatchimovich] will read the oration by David Albahari [Dahvid Alba-hari] “How to read a short story” where one of the most significant writers from these parts tackles with the very magic of reading short stories, in an unusual way, by trying to shed light on the short story mastery itself by other writers.
The programme is planned for Tuesday, the 23rd April 2024, in the multimedia Library hall, at Radosava Burića 9 [Radosava Buricha devet], Podgorica [Podgoritsa], beginning at 11 o’clock. The programme was envisaged as an interactive workshop. In that way, all of the interested persons will be able to comment and ask about the topics on the gathering.
