Our Library, as a national institution of culture, dedicated to the maintenance, expansion and processing of library materials in accessible formats, made its first donation to the National Library of Gračanica [Grachanitsa], based on the recently signed Cooperation Agreement between these two institutions.
The donation includes 30 audio publications in the modern DAISY format, which enables their intuitive and efficient use, as well as a Manual in Braille, intended for easier mastering by users who want to learn or improve their reading and writing skills.
The National Library of Gračanica, as an important cultural and educational institution in the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija [Metoheeya], consistently promotes the accessibility of knowledge, the preservation of linguistic identity and the development of reading culture. This donation enriches its fund with publications in accessible formats, which opens up additional space for the equal participation of visually impaired people in the cultural and educational life of the community.
Thanks to such initiatives, the practice of inclusive library activity is strengthened, inter-institutional cooperation is nurtured and cultural dialogue based on accessibility, diversity and respect for diversity is strengthened.
