As part of the 20th jubilee International Podgorica Book and Education Fair, our Library organized the promotion of the monograph “The First Library of Accessible Formats 2006-2026”, authored by Aleksandr Ćuković [Alexandahr Chookovich], MA. The event took place on Friday, May 15th, 2026, in the Chamber Hall of the Music Centre in Podgorica.
Tamara Vujović [Tamara Voyovich], Ph.D., Minister of Culture and Media, Jelisaveta Blagojević [Yelisaveta Blagoyevich], Ph.D. from the Historical Institute of Montenegro, Zdravko Vukčević [Zdravko Vookchevich], Ph.D., president of the Library Council, Aleksandar Ćuković [Alexandahr Chookovich], MA, author of the monograph, and Božidar Denda [Bozhidar Dairnda], MA, director of the institution, spoke about the monograph.
Speaking about the monograph, Minister Vujović [Voyovich] pointed out that this is an important publication that systematizes the first two decades of work of The Library of Accessible Formats of Montenegro “Vojislav Minić” [Voyislav Mineech] in a methodologically grounded and documented way, presenting the circumstances in which the institution was created, the way it was founded, as well as the development path that shaped it into a modern library centre for library materials in accessible formats.
Jelisaveta Blagojević [Yelisaveta Blagoyevich], Ph.D. points out that through an overview of key events, projects, publishing and production activities, international cooperation and development of services for users who are directed to accessible library materials, the monograph provides a comprehensive testimony of an important cultural and social enterprise in Montenegro.
[Zdravko Vookchevich], Ph.D., as the president of the Council, emphasized the importance and role of our Library in the library network of Montenegro, pointing to the dynamic path of its development, the employees’ commitment to goals that are set extremely high, as well as the need to provide this institution with suitable space for the purpose-built construction of the Library’s own business facility. He emphasized his satisfaction with the many years of cooperation through work in the institution ‘s Council.
The author of the monograph, Aleksandar Ćuković [Alexandahr Chookovich], MA, expressed his satisfaction with having the opportunity to work on this publication, stressing that our Library is a rarely significant cultural institution in the whole of Montenegro. He also emphasized his satisfaction with having the opportunity to get to know its work both from the outside and the inside, which contributed to the opportunity to achieve the best possible insight into many aspects of the Library’s work that are of great importance for its users and the overall cultural scene in Montenegro.
At the end, the director of the Library, Božidar Denda [Bozhidar Dairnda], MA addressed the audience. He thanked everyone who was involved in this important undertaking. He expressed his satisfaction with the goals achieved in relation to the amendments to the Law and the transformation of the Library and called on the Ministry of Culture and the Government to find a solution and provide the space needed for the construction of the Library’s business space as soon as during this jubilee year.
