Najat El Hachmi is a Spanish-Moroccan writer, winner of several literary awards. She also writes in the Catalan language. Her novel El lunes nos querrán is a story about the growing up of two young Muslim women, who are in search of freedom and true happiness in life. Growing up in an oppressive regime and difficult circumstances brings many challenges. As a result, the price that the novel’s heroines have to pay in order to fulfil their desired goals can be too high. This is also a story about overcoming social and class differences, about women’s identity and the difficult path to achieving the freedom one longs for.
