On the occasion of marking 20 years of work, The Library of Accessible Formats of Montenegro “Vojislav Minić” [Voyislav Mineech] organized literary contests for adults and high school students, with the theme “The Library: A Treasure Trove of Books and Trust”. From a large number of submitted works by high school students from several towns in Montenegro, a three-member jury, consisting of: Miljan Nikolić [Milyan Nikolich], writer and literary critic from Podgorica – chair of the jury, Ivana Nikitović [Ivana Nikitovich], professor of literature from Podgorica – member and Hana Dubak [Hannar Doobak], librarian of The Library of Accessible Formats of Montenegro “Vojislav Minić” [Voyislav Mineech] from Podgorica – member, at the session held on Friday, June 12th, 2026, selected three essays that were singled out and won the first three places. Unfortunately, due to the insufficient number of submitted works, the prizes from the competition for adults were absent this time and this competition was cancelled.
In the competition for high school students, the work of Anđela Todorović [Andyela Todorovich], a student of the third grade of the Prva srednja stručna škola [Perva srednya stroochna shkola] (First Vocational High School) from Nikšić, signed with the code “Đelato” won the first place, the second place went to Hana Hadžibegović [Hannar Hadzhibegovich], a student of the first grade of Srednja stručna škola [Srednya stroochna shkola] (Vocational High School) from Bar, signed with the code “HH”, while the work of Dragan Kadrić [Dragan Kadrich], a student of the second grade of the Gymnasium “Slobodan Škerović” [Slobodan Shkerovich] from Podgorica, signed with the code “November” was awarded the third place.
According to the explanation provided by Miljan Nikolić [Milyan Nikolich], chair of the jury, the awarded essays were selected for the clarity with which they addressed the competition theme, as well as for their conciseness, well-crafted sentence structure, highly accomplished stylistic expression, thoughtful consideration of the contemporary role of the library, and their poetic and rich use of language.
Information about the award ceremony, at which the winners will receive commemorative prizes, will be announced at a later date.
The Library congratulates the awarded authors and wishes that one day their own works will also find a place in the collections of our treasury of knowledge and trust.
