On Thursday, the 4th December, the Montenegro Library for Persons with Visual Impairments hosted the Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister for Education, Science, and Relations with Religious Communities, Budimir Aleksić [Boodeemeer Aleksitch], Ph.D. The Director of the Library, Božidar Denda [Bozhidar Dairnda], M.Sc.; the President of the Council, Zdravko Vukčević [Zdravkor Vukchevich], Ph.D. and a member of the Council, Vladimir Jovović [Vladimir Yorvovich], discussed current work-related issues and the institution’s further development with the distinguished guest.
During the meeting, the importance of the latest legal changes that open up space for the transformation of the Library in accordance with modern standards was pointed out, as well as the long-standing issue of inadequate rooms in which the institution operates. The need for the Library in Podgorica to obtain a suitable plot for the construction of its own building was particularly highlighted, which would provide more stable conditions for work and further development of accessible cultural and educational content.
The Deputy Prime Minister got acquainted with the process of making books in accessible formats, and emphasized the importance of the Library in ensuring equal access to knowledge, information and culture.
At the end of the meeting, the Library’s activities in the past period were presented, and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksić was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his special contribution to the development of the institution during the previous year.
