Many times awarded journalist and publicist Budo Simonović [Boodor Simonnovich] presented a part of his rich opus, counting 24 books, in the Montenegro Library for Persons with Visual Impairments yesterday. The accent was placed on his books “Dragovoljići” [Druggo-volyichi] and “Ognjena Marija livanjska” [Ognjena Murriya Livanjska] (the Fiery Mary of Leevan), which had seen its tenth edition.

MA Božidar Denda [Bozhidar Dairnda], the Library Director, pointed out that the programme made them happy given that they had celebrated 18 years of their existence as a national institution on the 4th September, and that the World Day of Literacy was to be observed on the 8th September. Denda stressed that Simonović’s publicist books, that were fruit of his journalist researches, were a true treasury of our history because they arose from his immediate contact with the witnesses to the events and that information was from the horse’s mouth.

– Therefore, it is not an exaggeration to say that one can learn more about the past of our peoples and these areas from Simonović’s texts and books, than from some of the history textbooks – said MA Denda. He reminded that it was a well-print circulation writer who, nevertheless, wrote in a true and lively manner, which is easily identified by the readers.

Reminding that Simonović writes on the genre border between journalistic and artistic text, MA Aleksandar Ćuković [Aleksandar Chookovich], the reviewer of the book “Dragovoljići” [Druggo-volyichi], states that the records on the areas and people in the book make us constantly question ourselves, as well as question others.

– “Dragovoljići” is a story about all of us, whatever we declare as and whichever god we pray to. The book is unusual and reminding promenade through the spirit of these areas where Simonović, for who knows how many times, showed and proved that he was builder of the fact based bridge over the swollen and living river of legends – said, among other things, Ćuković, reminding that the author insists on ethics and ethical actions of man.

Simonović addressed the audience and shared with them curiosities about the way his bound reports and stories were created. After the official part of the programme, Simonović continued his discussion with the audience. He donated 15 of his books to the Library.
