Promotion of the travel book by the chess grandmaster Milan Draško [Meelan Drashkor] was staged before the Podgorica [Podgoritsa]audience in the Montenegro Library for Persons with Visual Impairments. Draško has recently published the book“Karpov u Dučićevom gradu” [Karpov oo Doochichevom grahdoo] (Karpov in the city of Dučić)within the Montenegro Association of Writers.
The chess grandmaster Nikola Đukić [Nikola Djukich] and the writer Andrija Radulović[Andreeya Radoolovich] talked about the book while Aleksandar Ćuković [Alexandahr Chukovich], who introduced the audience with Draško’s biography, was the moderator for the evening.
With this book, as well as with the previous one “Putujući sa figurama” [putuyootchy sarfig-urama] (travelling with chessmen), Draško “expanded” the chess board of 64 squares to yet another square, said Đukić and pointed out that the 65th square is a fruit of “Draško’soverwhelming inner need toput on the paperthe impressions and experiences from his numerous travels and share them with us, his future readers”. The book has a distinct personal imprint of the author, says Đukić, whether Draško brings outless known facts about grand chess players, places he metoutside tourist guides or when he brings detailed analyses of the chess games. A special quality of the book, says Đukić, is its style, or the warmth and sincerity, as well asthe lyricism of Draško’s stories.
The book “Karpov u Dučićevom gradu” was also positively assessed by Radulović whostated it was a work of high range manifesting author’s erudition, documentarity, lucidity, high chess and general culture, spiritual curiosity, experience, actuality, state of being informed, objectivity, language diversity. Draško has found,as Đukić adds, his own expression with which he addresses the reader in a new, interesting and dynamic wayopening a new space in culture and in chess journalism,“connecting arts of word and chess, new chess thought and literary text, expanding borders of creation and establishing the finest liaisons”.
– The writer in his texts witnesses, primarily, a high level of understanding the world, art, culture, life and chess, opening a new door to us for contemplating and a new experience, new encounter and a new moment, a common human view of the world and life that are imbued with laws of ethics and aesthetics, chess logic and magic – said Radulović.
