On Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, in the “Miličko Miketić” [Milichko Miketich] Ceremonial Hall, The Montenegro Library for the Persons with Visual Impairments organized an educational workshop for children “The Magical Suitcase and the Legends of Perast.” The event was held on the occasion of the International Children’s Book Day and was realized in cooperation with the Municipal Public Institution “Museums of Kotor”. It is based on the publication “Legends of Kotor” published by the “Museums of Kotor” in black print, while the Library ensured its availability in audio format. Through this edition, children receive content in an appropriate form through which they can see the importance of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of their country.
At the very beginning, the children from the “Dragan Radulović” [Druggahn Radulovich] Kindergarten in Podgorica were greeted by librarian Ana Đurović [Ana Jurovich], introducing them to the world of fairy tales and folklore. This was followed by an interactive workshop led by curator Jelena Radonjić [Yelena Radonich], who, with the help of a magical suitcase, introduced the children to stories about the origin of the island of Sveti Đorđe [Svehtee Jorjeh] (Saint George) and the church Gospa od Škrpjela [Gospa od Shkrpyela] (Our Lady of the Rocks). Presenting legends important for the entire heritage of Montenegro, the curator stimulated children’s imagination, which resulted in a creative task in which the little ones drew the secrets of the sea depths. The meeting ended with an address by librarian Ana Đurović [Ana Jurovich], who thanked the children for participating in this important educational program.
