The Montenegro Library for Persons with Visual Impairments organized a public forum titled “The impact of peer violence on society” in “Miličko Miketić” [Milichko Mikketich] library hall on Friday, the 28th November 2025.
The forum was dedicated to understanding the causes, consequences and social reactions to peer violence, as well as finding support models for young people, families and the community. Through an open conversation, the psychological and social aspects of this issue were discussed.
Speakers at the tribune were:
MSc Ana Maksimović Sekulović [Ana Maksimovich Sekulovich], psychologist at the Vocational High School in Cetinje [Cettinneh] and teaching associate at the University of Donja Gorica [donya gorritsa] (who was also the moderator), Anđela Miličić [Anjela Milichich], sociologist and advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and Maša Jovanović [Mahsha Yorvanovich], social worker and peer educator from the Faculty of Political Sciences.
The forum drew strong interest from Library users and other citizens, high school students, university students, parents, teaching staff…
The forum pointed out that peer violence is not only an issue children face, but a mirror of society, and that solving it requires the joint responsibility of families, schools and community with the development of empathy, support and a culture of non-violent communication. In this sense, a message was sent out:
“To prevent violence is to build a healthier and more humane society.”
