About the book:

Maupassant (1850-1893) entered literature, in his own words,“like a meteor”, but his success was preceded by long and persistent work and the first stylistic exercises under the supervision of the strict and benevolent teacher Gustave Flaubert. Twenty-nine years older Flaubert saw in Maupassant his spiritual son and heir. "I read Dunda again and again I claim that it is a masterpiece. Make an effort to write a dozen of them and you will be a man” - he wrote to Maupassant almost before his death. Maupassant heeded the teacher's advice and, in addition to several novels, published about three hundred short stories with which he gained world fame.
