About the book:
The Catcher in the Rye is a story of a teenager Holden Caulfield, a sensitive but rebellious boy who leaves his school and goes in New York City (NYC) for three days.
In the book, the 17-year old Holden Caulfield retells his experiences when he was 16. He is being expelled from private high school he attended because he fell behind in all subjects but English. The boy goes to NYC planning to spend a few days in the city before going back home to inform his parents. The book is written in the first person and retells those three days in NYC.
The book, actually, from the beginning, describes the 72 hours of the Holden's life out of which he spends 48 hours on roaming through NYC after he was expelled from school in the pre-Christmas time.
