About the book:
The author wrote her book almost as her travel journal through Montenegro and Serbia from 1900 to mid-summer of 1903. She handed down her manuscript to the publisher by the end of that year and immediately travelled to Macedonia (only four months after breaking of the Ilinden Uprising).
As of that period, she would spend in Balkan – in our countries and among the Albanians – at least several months every year in the following ten years, of course, not as a tourist or an adventurist, but as a passionate researcher, scientist or observer, and, finally, as an active participant in the political events of those days. The result of those journeys and activities she had made were three more voluminous books of hers, which she has published by the beginning of the World War I.
